Hi, I’m Rebecca Noori, a freelance HR tech and SaaS writer.

How did I get here? Good question. I didn’t know it at the time, but every job I’ve had in the past 25 years has prepped me for what I do today. Ok, not the summer I spent stuffing tickets into envelopes for a rail company. But everything else.

Work Experience and Student Jobs
At college, while others were working in bars or retail, I was writing and researching for TimeOut and EMAP Publishing while studying for my English Literature degree. I planned to go into magazine journalism but had a panic I wasn’t cool enough so pivoted to the more sensible….

IT Support
10 years working as a technician for an international bank taught me how to patiently explain complex technology to the bank’s staff and teach them how to use different features of their desktops, emails, and finance applications.

Beyond answering the phone with a daily greeting of “Have you tried turning it off and on again?” I took Microsoft and Citrix exams, and basically lived in the freezing cold server room untangling cables. Then came the moment I decided I preferred software to hardware….I set a PC on fire while adding a new memory card. I’m not kidding.

Affiliate Marketing
As a side gig, I built my own graduate relocation site helping young people move to London for the first time. I taught myself SEO and my site ranked at the top of Google for many years for competitive terms like “moving to London,” “moving to London from Australia/America/South Africa,” “where to live in London,” etc. I wrote 200+ articles and performed all my own outreach to get backlinks from prestigious colleges like Princeton and Cornell’s Study Abroad departments.

Did it make me rich? Hell no. But the affiliate income was enough that I didn’t need to return to my IT job once my son was born. And this set me on the path to freelancing.

Head Editor of an Agency Team
Over two and a half years, I managed a freelance team of five editors and 60+ writers working at speed to churn out guest blogs for a link building agency. I could tell you I learned loads about grammar, structural editing, and how to write a great hook. But what I really discovered was how to be a writer that editors want to work with again and again.

(Hint: Meet your deadlines. Take feedback on the chin. Be eager to learn. Never make your problems your editor’s problems. Be nice, always. Make sure your work is spotless before you send it in. Every. Single Time.)

Freelance Writing
Over 9+ years, I’ve gone from writing about sewer fatbergs and walking balloons (seriously) to collaborating with some of the world’s leading SaaS and HR tech companies like UKG, Nectar HR, monday.com, Loom, and more. I’ve written social copy, newsletters, landing pages, and video scripts, but I’ve found my home in long-form content (usually blogs and reports) covering anything to do with the world of work.

I’ve discovered my tone of voice, become more opinionated, and positioned myself as a strategic content partner my clients depend on. It’s a recipe that works; I’ve been working with most of my clients for 1-3 years as a true extension of their teams. And I get to write about gritty, meaningful topics that matter, like supporting veterans at work, starting employee resource groups to combat discrimination, and the pros and cons of AI in the modern workplace. I love it.
