Do you feel pressured to hit “publish” before your content is perfect?
Let’s change that.
I’m a senior editor who can raise the standard of content produced by your in-house team, freelancers, or even AI tools (gulp!).
Editing and writer training for content teams
A huge part of my editing work involves reviewing and improving content crafted by in-house or external writers. Sometimes, this means polishing near-finished drafts with targeted line edits. Other times, it involves deeper editorial work that improves the writing quality across your team.
This includes:
- Structuring content for clarity, accuracy, and flow
- Applying brand voice and style guidelines consistently across pieces
- Giving writers clear, practical feedback they can use
- Flagging recurring issues, such as structure, tone drift, or over-explaining
- Producing training walkthroughs so everyone’s aligned on what goes into quality content
“If it wasn’t for Rebecca, I would not have nearly the same amount of experience and skills I have today. Years ago, Rebecca was a senior editor who hired me as a freelance content writer. She mentored me into becoming a managing editor, which provided me with the fundamentals of SEO and content management that I still follow to this day.” — Allison Ipsen-Lestrade, VP of Marketing, Digital Authority Partners
Editing AI-generated content
If you’re using tools like ChatGPT to get words on the page, you already know the initial output is pants (to say the least).
I work with teams who want to lean on AI to produce a quick first draft but still care about quality, credibility, and sounding human. My work usually involves:
- Rewriting AI-generated drafts so they sound natural and direct
- Removing triadic phrasing and overly formal words (goodbye “leverage” and “ensure”)
- Reworking crappy sentences that talk around a point instead of making it (instead of “X isn’t just Y, it’s Z” — let’s just go straight to Z!)
- Replacing vague statements with data-backed examples
- Matching the tone with your brand voice rather than the tool’s defaults
What clients can expect from my editing work
- Respect for existing writers and processes
- Clear edits and comments that explain what to change and why
- Content that reads like it was written by someone who knows the subject
- Consistency across pieces, even when multiple people are writing
Here’s how marketing manager Elizabeth Thorn describes my editing work at Toggl.
“Rebecca is one of the most organized and detailed editors I’ve ever worked with. She is thorough in her edits and effortlessly adheres to the brand guidelines while still adding a unique flair and tone of voice to each article. Her feedback to our writers is thorough yet concise and respectful. She has truly helped us take Toggl content to a whole new level and has done so while being an absolute delight to work with. You’d be lucky to work with Rebecca!”
If you need an editor who can do more than tidy up sentences, and who’s comfortable working with human writers, AI drafts, or a mix of both, get in touch.
